Snapshots from Gyeongbukgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea - November 2015

All of our palace tours in Seoul were free. You can book yours ahead of your visit to Seoul at http://www.visitseoul.net. It is highly recommended. The guides were all knowledgeable, friendly and can speak English very well.

The first palace we visited was the Gyeongbukgung Palace.  It was the main royal palace of the Joseon dynasty ( WIKI ).

Here are just some of my snapshots from the palace.

This is the main entrance of the palace.

Changing of the palace guards ceremony.

It is quite touristy but it's ok as it is huge as well.

These figures tell how tall a building is.

Details.

Pine tree is everywhere in Seoul. They are pretty.

If you will look closely, you'll see flowers outside the fishnet. According to our guide, this wall protects the queen's quarter from any diseases, etc.

Most of the buildings inside the complex have been rebuilt recently. The original parts of the structures are 'buried' here.

Traditional meets modern Korea.

Details inside the palace.

The sundial invented during the Joseon dynasty. It really works. Very impressive.

More details.

So many photos to choose from, so little time (and space).
