Visiting Hong Kong - day 1

It was my 2nd time in Hong Kong. The first time I went there, we were on a package tour, this time around - we were on our own.

I have to remind myself not to book a flight that leaves very early in the morning as we are now staying in Central Singapore. Our flight was 6am - we paid 30sgd for the cab going to the airport. Ouch!

Sunrise.

We arrived in Hong Kong at around 10am. We immediately bought an airport express ticket that costs HKD 140. The officer told us that its cheaper to buy a group ticket than an individual one. We also bought the octopus ticket (similar to Singapore's EZ link card) that we can use on all public transportation in HongKong (including the tram going to Victoria Peak, Star Ferry, MTR etc.)

Hong Kong's MTR

At that point we were not very familiar with the Hong Kong train system yet so we relied on what the tourism officer suggested to us. We alight at Tsing Yi, took a free shuttle bus going to Tsim Sha Tsui where our hotel is located.

We did not have a hard time finding our hotel at all as I saw it before we reached the first bus stop. Ok, the hotel is a different nightmare, I mean story - I might create another post for that.

We just dropped our luggages in the hotel room and went to Disneyland by MTR. We bought our Disneyland tickets days before our flight - saved us time to queue on the ticket booth. The weather was about 20 C so it was perfect to enjoy the rides - and we certainly enjoyed them!

Yay Disneyland! LOL

Disney parade.

There were a couple of rides/attractions added since our last visit 2 years ago like the Toy Story Land, Grizzly Gulch, etc.

I personally liked the 'It's a small world' attraction. Each section represents a continent and the dolls wear costumes from different countries and sing 'It's a small world' on that country's language. It was cute and adorable. I was just smiling all throughout that 'boat ride'.

India

The Philippines - the dolls are spinning their umbrella and singing 'Kay Liit lang ng Mundo'

The highlight of a Disneyland visit, for me, is of course the fire works display at the Sleeping Beauty castle. It's still magical and spectacular even if I watched it for the 2nd time. And honestly, it makes me want to watch all the Disney films all over again.

The fireworks display was about to start when my camera battery died on us.

We left the theme park right after the fire works show (even though I know that the park is open until 10pm) .  We went back to Tsim Sha Tsui by MTR again and we went straight to the Temple Night Market. By this time, the battery in our camera was totally drained so I do not have any picture to show. Boo!

That's how we spent our first day in Hong Kong - coming up : our 2nd day!
