The historic Cu Chi Tunnel is about 1 1/2 - 2 hrs drive from Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam. We took the half day group tour that costs us around 20 USD per person.
First, we visited a handicraft shop. Everything is handmade here. They use egg shell mostly for their beautiful products.

i thought of buying this but... where am i going to put it? |
Then we headed down to the Cu Chi tunnel. Along the way, the tour guide showed us street vendors selling rats. He said they BBQ and eat it.
Also, one thing I noticed in Vietnam is that there's grave everywhere. At the center of the rice fields, in their yard, etc. I didn't get the chance to ask the guide why unfortunately.
And then we arrived at the Cu Chi Tunnel.
Cu Chi Tunnel is an underground tunnel used by Viet Cong guerillas as hiding place, hospital and a place to live during the American - Vietnam war.

They made these holes so the air can pass through |
I really admire the courage and persistence of the Vietnamese during that time, and I must say, creating Cu Chi tunnel was just genius in itself.
(from Chris Elemos' Blog) Also, one thing I noticed in Vietnam is that there's grave everywhere.
ReplyDeleteHugh: They like to keep their ancestors nearby. Also why they moved back home, into VC controled areas, from protected hamlets. Also, they might well have not found the VC as offensive as we westerners did.
