Now I appreciate it more since I got to spend my whole day in Mekong Delta.
We drove for about 1 hr from Ho Chi Minh City to Mekong Delta. We paid for more or less USD 15 for this tour. It was a group tour which for sure made us saved a lot of money. We were 7 on the tour. 3 Germans and 2 Singaporean couple were with us. A very interesting group I must say and honestly by the end of this tour I was laughing! As in, lauggghhiinnng!! hahaha.. but that's a different story. :)
When we arrived, our tour guide Jerry arranged this boat for us that will take us to one of the islands.
This is actually our tour guide helping us to the our boat. |
The first island that we visited was more of a bee farm. They gave us samples of honey, candies and royal jelly to taste.
There's a lot of snakes on Mekong Delta. |
That was our actual boat! I actually felt bad to those 2 people who were paddling the boat for us because for sure we were so heavy. |
Traffic jam! hahaha |
I really admire the locals working here. I can only imagine how hard it is to paddle. |
These are the candies before the packaging. |
And yes, they're putting the candies one by one! |
I think on this island as well we've got to see some souvenirs that they sell. They are beautiful.
The next island is where we got to eat our lunch. They served us traditional Vietnamese food which I really like. Vietnamese food is very delicious!
We stayed on this island for about an hour. We didnt go to cycle around (which was part of the tour) because it was very hot that day and we were all tired. I actually wanted to go biking but it seemed I will be all alone so I didnt do it.
After that we went to the next island where they treated us with tropical fruits while watching the locals perform some traditional folk songs.
Here are some shots from the Mekong River :
All in all it was a good tour and a good experience. I've got to see how locals live on those small islands. It was surely one of the sites you should not miss when visiting Vietnam!
Vietnam looks cool! my wife and I are planning to visit this one...hopefully soon. thanks for sharing!
